Wednesday the 23rd March I presented an evening of entertainment for the students which included historical finds, the history of Colchester and a film.
Students were able to handle lots of items including roman coins and a saxon strap end.
It was a great evening, the food was yummy and one that we hope to repeat.

On Friday 3rd December a team of us ran
as part of a treadmill challenge. We kept the treadmill going for 24 Hours and ran about 150 miles.
We raised money towards The Blue Cross and Guide Dogs for the blind.

A superb day again at the castle park.

Colchester was granted the honor of being chosen by the Queen as one of the Saluting Stations firing a 21-gun salute to mark the Queen's Official Birthday. There were only ten other suluting stations in the UK and two in Gibraltar.
The weather was dry and the salute was carried out by the 210 (Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire Yeomanry) Regiment Royal Artillery using 105mm guns.
Lord Petre, the Lord Lieutenant of Essex was the Queen's representative.
The Minden Band of the Queen's Division provided an excelent display and the music.

Thanks for the pose you were great

Well what a day. Had a great time at the fair yesterday, got sunburnt, and managed to buy a fantastic Roman sword and tunic to add to my Roman re-enactment costume. Got to save up for the armour next.
Some very interesting stalls and the actors were fantastic I learned so much about the medieval period. My favourites were the lady who made hats from sheeps wool and the musicians.
Well done Colchester it was great.

Following a small dig in my garden and a quick check with the metal detector some very interesting finds were discovered here in Colchester.
After finding oyster shell and animal bone I came across a bone comb, coins and lots of pottery, tiles and clay pipes.
